Regarding this proverbs, there are two factors I may consider. For one thing, all things exist on the earth are rely on the solar energy to some extent, even the conventional resource such as coal, fossil and petroleum are indirectly produced by solar energy. For another, human living and producing fundamental power are driven from the solar energy. For example, when our body moderately expose on the sunlight, it will improve our health. So there is no doubt that if the sunlight disappear forever, we will suffer the extinction catastrophe.
In these two points, we can be sure that the solar energy has a significant impact on our life.
I eager to see such view in the near future: much more technologies are facilitated by
solar energy and the high pollution energy is taken placed.
